Well, I'm out of town for a huge party in San Francisco some friends of mine are throwing. Just wanted to wish everyone a happy 4th of July! And if you manage to have nearly as good of a time be sure to take pics.

The Bromance is deep in SFO. Incriminating photos inc.

I'll be back after the weekend with all the good stuff. Don't miss it!

I am taking a break from the gaming lists to celebrate the 4th of July in this edition of "Slapnut's Weekly Top Five".  I am going to take a look at the five greatest things about the 4th of the July and the reasons we have to celebrate it here in the USA.  A bit of humor and a touch of seriousness, enjoy!

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays.  For those of you who aren't American or not in the know,…

Another night, another Epic Drop filled with great stories and recaps of some of the day's news.  On with the show...

Just retire and stay retired Favre.  Don't say they are rumors, say "I am not coming back to football".  Enough of this nonsense.

The Seattle Sonics owner is paying 75 million dollars to move the team to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Seattle keeps the rights to the team name and the colors, however the players and organization will be moving.  This is qu…

It is time for another one of those "what the hell kind of world are we living in posts".

If only it were Texas and Joe Horn was around this may not have happened.  A disabled boy in Australia who was recently on the receiving end of some gifts via the Make A Wish Foundation was robbed the other day.

His family's house was broken in to and they stole the Playstation 3 he was recently gifted thanks to Make A Wish.  The kid suffers from the terminal duchenne muscular dystrophy and g…

From Penny Arcade to all the posers and everyone in between.  Just what does it take to make a successful webcomic?  Yahtzee gives you some points and suggests the keys to making it as a webcomic genius in the dry, sarcastic manner that he is known for.

Line of the week:

"you know girls, those mysterious creatures you see on the bus who have their own bathroom and spray stingy liquid in your face "

The Epic Drop is back for another dose of nightly reading enjoyment.  Barry Bonds, Han****, crazy Texans with guns and pirates are all highlighted tonight.  Enjoy!

Roland S. Martin  from CNN has a commentary piece up about the Texas man who shot two burglars who were breaking in to his neighbors home when they were gone.  The courts decided to not try the guy as he was in his legal means but Martin questions was it worth it killing the guys?  Could, would you guys do it?…

Resistance 2 is coming this November and it is gearing up to one hell of a PS3 shooter.  Gears of War 2 will be out on the 360 as well that month, so the comparisons are inevitable.

With that being said the above video is trailer #2, the first non teaser trailer, for Resistance 2.  The games features 60 man online squad based multiplayer which was showcased in this video a while back.  The trail…

I looked at GameRiot today and thought to myself; you know what this site needs? Literary analysis. So here we go:

There are some strong parallels between Handlebars by Flobots and Do the Evolution by Pearl Jam. On the obvious side of things both are animated. Visually they include dramatic shots of people in power speaking near flags (the U.S. flag, …

It was speculated before the Diablo III announcement at WWI Paris that the crew at Blizzard was developing an new MMO.  There was speculation late last year thanks to job postings on Blizzard's end.

In the video above Rob Pardo VP at Blizzard confirms they are working on another title that happens to be a next generation MMO.  He notes "there is still one unknown project..." and those job postings had nothing to do with Diablo III.

Let the rumors continue on.  World of Starcraft an…

Next generation consoles have been out for a two and a half years now starting with the Xbox 360 and one and a half if you talk Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii.  According to VGChartz that adds up to 61.43 million of these consoles sold worldwide and 29.26 million in the USA.  There have been over 75 million PS2, Gamecube and Xbox units sold.

Give or take some non repeat buyers there is about a 15 million unit gap between last generation and this one so far.  This of course d…

Welcome back for your morning news fix.  Kind of a slow news day so far, but there are a few stories to catch up on.

Sounds like Gears of War 2 is setting it sights pretty higher, check out this quote from OMX UK:  "Beyond it," Ferro says. "I said it. It's going to be more emotionally effecting than Bioshock. A lot happens."  Please tell me we don't lose that lovable grape soda drinking Cole...

The Quantum of Solace movie trailer popped up last night, and now Shacknews has some scre…

Welcome back for another night of the Epic Drop.  One of my favorite movie series, aka James Bond, has it's latest trailer up and I have some news on a "300" sequel.  Enjoy!

We have been debating a ton of gun control topics lately, between the right to bear arms and the semi-auto ban.  I found an interesting piece tonight noting that 55% of US gun related deaths are suicides.  "In 2005, homicides accounted for 40% of gun deaths. Accidents accounted for 3 percent. The remaining…

NPD numbers have been released for the week ending June 21st for the PC software sales market.  While the Spore Creature Creator may not be a full game, it seems EA and Will Wright already have a potential hit on their hands.  The penis and boob creating portion of Spore was the top seller in its first week of sales.

The Sims and its billion expansions and World of Warcraft were also top sellers per usual.  The other latest edition to the top 10, Age of Conan is still chimin…
