We have some big game releases
confirmed for later on this year in today's edition of the news, the Friday edition, and we are going out on a bang.
Call of Duty (5) is set for
this fiscal year. That doesn't necessarily mean this calendar year as the fiscal year ends at the end of March. But a pre-holiday release most likely means more sales than a late winter release. The game will feature a new locale, and be on six different platforms. (PC, PS3, 360, Wii.... DS and PSP?)
Guitar Hero 4 is surely set
for this year, and hopefully it comes sooner than later to wash the average and mediocre taste GH: Aerosmith is going to leave in people's mouths. A "significant leap forward in innovation", (cough, Rock Band'like is my guess), is promised in the fourth edition of the franchise. This will probably make it out in the Oct/Nov time frame before the holidays kick in.
The latest
James Bond movie "
Quantum of Solace" will be out this November and a new game will hit the market to coincide with the movie. The Q.o.S. (quality of service, ha) game will make use of the
Call of Duty 4 engine. Infinity Ward will not be developing the game, Activision will make use of various devs for various ports of the game.
Gore Verbinski, director of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies is set
to direct the
Bioshock movie. The movie will be Universal Studios release
The
Gran Turismo series has now sold
50 million copies total. Pretty impressive numbers, bolstered recently by the release of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.
