MLG has clarified the no-macro rule applies to both in-game and keyboard macros. Also 3rd party mods will not be allowed in the competition http://www.mlgpro.com/?q=node/2140794. Players may not use 3rd party Add-ons. 5. Players may not change the Computer/Monitor sound and video settings. 6. All User Interface setups will be confined to the Blizzard default options. Also season 2 not 3 gear will be used.So why is getting rid of macros a bad thing when all MLG is doing is advancing the comp…

It's time again for a new topic for our soon to be announced WoW competition: Is stacking classes in 3vs3-tournament something that we should prohibit?   Most of you might have seen the WoW-matches at Sweden's Dreamhack in early December. HARP used to be the new Flavor of the Month for Rogues and the MoB came up with the idea to use two rogues to beat certain comps. Seeing Zecks and company ripping apart their opponent's Warlock felt kind of cheesy and unstoppable.   Nowadays HA…

So MLG released today the full schedule and rules for the circuit today, so here comes the info dump.Format and HardwareIt is going to be run double elimination style,3v3, best of 5 with alternating rounds. Teams can have either 3 or 4 players on a team, so expect most of the top tier teams to bring 4. Gear will be all season 3. Map choice will be random on the evidently private realm they are using. They also made official that they will be running the tournament on HP Blackbirds, which means t…

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=6440785022&sid=1&pageNo=1Scare beast had its range increased to 30 yards, but is still a 1.5 second cast.  Personally I thought the nerf was a bit shortsighted, but they still have to address druid movement advantages in the arena.

I received the following email, from Blizzard after one of my accounts had been closed (a few days ago) for point selling back in July.  They said they sent me an email then, but... I didn't get my account closed until recently.  Blizzard has a screw loose.Greetings, Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding the World of Warcraft account you are using.  We apologize for any gap in communication, yet our in-game Player Relations team sent an email detailing the account…

So apparently it wasn't all lies and hype. Apparently a ton of good players transferring to a battlegroup makes it the best (whoda thunk!?). Apparently anyone who predicted seeing solid representation from each battlegroup in the tournament was completely and utterly wrong. As far as I can tell, six of the thirteen battlegroups are not represented at all in the top 25: there is simply no room with all of the Bloodlust kids filling the spots. Depending on your interpretation/speculation, 13 of th…

Yes that's right, everyone's least favorite blog/forum troll is buying gladiator from YOG once again in season 3. I tried to ask Yog himself about it, but apparently there's a confidentiality clause involved in his contract.Anyways, see for yourself:http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/team-info.xml?r=Mal%27Ganis&ts=2&t=XBOXRULES&select=XBOXRULESFaction attempted to play with merciless gladiator xarrio/clicker, then got a druid for xarrio to play on, but that wasn't good enough, so he w…

After our last blog got quite some feedback (thank you for that!) we have yet another issue that we would like to see discussed: Add-Ons! While the whole 'Afflicted'-discussion is already a couple of months old we still wonder if there is really no need for any add-ons in a tournament setting. At our past offline-events there were none allowed at all. People brought their macros and the WTF-settings but that was basically it.Let's take the infamous focus target as an example. It is supporte…

So I was going to write a huge rant post about how this was the worst decision in years to pick up WoW. But I realized that now I am actually relevant here now . Now that doesn't mean I am gonna let MLG off the hook totally, because the way they announced this only a month in advanced ,and are not going to let us see the rules before the date of registration opening(May 15th) is not cool for anybody. I totally understand why they are having 32 teams only though, since I am assuming they are&nb…

First off, a look at the ladder. After that some awards, comp analysis, The Rise of the Enhance Shaman, and does Europe lack innovation?Culling all the clearly junk teams (might be more that aren't so obvious), here's the top 25 (also omitting people's secondary teams). Why top 25? In the spirit of college rankings of course...and also to list my team at 23rd :p1: MoB Gaming (PRM). No surprises here. 2: Eclipse (PRM). Looks like someone went on a ridiculous hot streak, we'll see if they come bac…

To understand why paladins, and shaman for that matter will remain gimp, you have to know the background of several of WoW's developers. The first thing you have to know is that most of the people who developed WoW 1-60 left right before launch. This left a few untalented ex-Everquest players who were hired to keep hardcore raiders happy in WoW with a lot of influence. Jeff Kaplan ("Tigole Bitties"), and Alex Afrasiabi ("Furor Planedefiler") are two of the "Designers" that were left behind. The…

We all know that this wonderful overpopulated game we play has some serious issues with game balancing. Blizzards look from the past has been to supply everybody with the same abilities (See: Shamans on Alliance Pallies on Horde, and Everybody has mortal strike: game = fair). But perhaps as a first hand participant with help from the audience of course (That would be the reader) we can summarize what might be a good solution to balance out the large PvP flaws that some classes are facing and having a hard time with.…

I made an (un)official WoW Arena Tourney IRC channel on irc.gamesurge.net ( #arena).. looking for people to help moderate it and I'm trying to get it popular. I come from an FPS-heavy background, and IRC was one of the most useful (and fun!) tools. Recruiting, trash-talking, strategy discussion etc. Come in and hang out!For now, I think that everyone will be voiced; but later on, 2k+ will have ops, 1850+ will be voiced, and everyone else will not have access. Exclusivity makes these channels …
