Forza Director Credits Game Pass Concept But Blames Execution for Xbox Troubles
Mike Brown, the former creative director of Forza Horizon 5 at Playground Games, has spoken out about Xbox's ongoing struggles, arguing that Game Pass was a genuinely good idea that ultimately failed in execution. In comments that have drawn wide attention this week, Brown acknowledged the subscription service's well-meaning intentions while pointing to a critical shortfall: simply not enough players subscribed to make the model financially sustainable. He departed Microsoft-owned Playground Games in 2024 and is currently working on a new open-world racer called Clutch.
