Halloween: The Game will not be coming to PS5 in Japan, after the title failed to receive an age rating from CERO (Computer Entertainment Rating Organization), Japan's primary video game ratings body. The refusal appears to stem from the game's violent and adult content, which CERO deemed too extreme to classify under its existing rating tiers. Without an official rating, the game cannot legally be sold on the PlayStation platform in the region.

IllFonic's asymmetric horror title Halloween: The Game has been refused classification by the Australian Classifications Board, effectively banning its sale in both Australia and New Zealand. The culprit, perhaps surprisingly for a game built around brutal slasher violence, is drugs. Specifically, the game allows players to smoke weed, and that depiction of a controlled substance was enough for regulators to pull the plug on a commercial release in both countries.
