Halloween: The Game's First DLC Brings Michael Myers Skins for $10

Illfonic's Halloween: The Game is getting its first paid DLC on October 27, and it leans hard into the franchise's deep cuts. The new content pack, priced at $10, introduces additional Michael Myers mask skins, including at least one pulled from the series' less celebrated sequels. As Kotaku notes, the pack features what some fans consider Michael's worst-looking mask, making it a love letter to the die-hard, self-aware corner of the Halloween fandom rather than a crowd-pleasing greatest-hits selection. A second $10 skin offering a more polished, better-looking version of the iconic killer is also available for those who want something closer to the classic look.

Halloween: The Game PS5 Release Cancelled in Japan Over Violence and Nudity

Halloween: The Game will not be coming to PS5 in Japan, after the title failed to receive an age rating from CERO (Computer Entertainment Rating Organization), Japan's primary video game ratings body. The refusal appears to stem from the game's violent and adult content, which CERO deemed too extreme to classify under its existing rating tiers. Without an official rating, the game cannot legally be sold on the PlayStation platform in the region.

Halloween: The Game Banned in Australia and New Zealand Over Drug Content

IllFonic's asymmetric horror title Halloween: The Game has been refused classification by the Australian Classifications Board, effectively banning its sale in both Australia and New Zealand. The culprit, perhaps surprisingly for a game built around brutal slasher violence, is drugs. Specifically, the game allows players to smoke weed, and that depiction of a controlled substance was enough for regulators to pull the plug on a commercial release in both countries.
