Cliff Bleszinski Opens Up on LawBreakers Failure and Personal Struggles
Cliff Bleszinski, once hailed as a rock star of game development for his work on the Gears of War franchise, is speaking candidly about the collapse of his studio Boss Key Productions and the ill-fated multiplayer shooter LawBreakers. In a wave of interviews published this week, the designer pointed to his own ego as one of the primary culprits behind the game's failure, admitting that his desire for personal glory overshadowed the needs of the project. "I wanted it to be my show, and that was the first step of my ego creeping in right there," Bleszinski said, reflecting on how his public persona may have actively worked against the game's reception. He also acknowledged a hard truth about fame in the industry, noting that "people are loyal to the game, but they're not necessarily loyal to the person."
