Atari and Universal Sign Deal to Adapt 10 Classic Games Into Films
Atari and Universal Pictures have signed a deal granting Universal the rights to adapt 10 classic Atari games into feature films, with titles including Pong, Breakout, and Asteroids reportedly among those in the mix. The agreement marks one of the boldest bets yet on retro gaming IP as Hollywood continues its seemingly insatiable appetite for video game properties, even as the creative challenge of building narratives around games that have little to no story content remains a very real hurdle.
