Arc Raiders' Frozen Trail Update Brings New Map, Enemies, and a Paid Battle Pass

Nearly a year after launch, Embark Studios is pulling out all the stops for Arc Raiders' biggest update yet. Dubbed Frozen Trail, the update arrives October 8 on all platforms and introduces a sweeping overhaul across nearly every aspect of the game. Headlining the additions is Pendola Pass, a brand-new map that gives players a fresh environment to explore and fight over. Alongside it come three new Arc enemy types, a grappling hook, a camera item, and a new storage space for trinkets, making this a landmark moment for the extraction shooter's growing playerbase.

The update also introduces meaningful gameplay changes under the hood. A new "weapon amplification" system lets players customize their guns for either PvP or PvE scenarios, offering a level of build flexibility the game has not had before. On the monetization side, Arc Raiders is adding a Frozen Trail Reward Pass featuring both a free tier and a new paid tier. Embark has moved to reassure fans that the paid pass will essentially pay for itself through earnable in-game currency, though the shift away from a fully free model is sure to draw some scrutiny from the community.
