Cyberpunk 2077 Live-Action Movie in Development at Paramount

Oct 9, 20266 sources0 comments

Paramount Pictures is officially developing a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film in partnership with CD Projekt Red, according to a report from Deadline. The project places the studio squarely in the middle of Hollywood's ongoing rush to adapt major video game properties, following the massive box-office successes of The Super Mario Bros. Movie and the Minecraft film. Notably, Paramount is also the studio behind the in-development Call of Duty movie, making it one of the more aggressive players in the video game adaptation space.

The production has a high-profile producer attached: the producer behind Transformers One, lending the project some serious blockbuster pedigree. However, not everyone is celebrating the news. Rock Paper Shotgun pointed out that the same producing team also has the widely panned Doom movie on its resume, drawing some skepticism about the creative direction the Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation might take. The film is set within the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, though plot details, a director, and casting have not yet been announced.
