Diablo 5 Officially Announced at BlizzCon 2026, Targeting Spring 2029

Blizzard Entertainment officially pulled back the curtain on Diablo 5 during the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony, confirming a Spring 2029 release window for the next mainline entry in its landmark action RPG franchise. The game is set roughly 100 years after the events of Diablo 4, in a world where the Lord of Terror himself has already triumphed. According to Blizzard, "Diablo has won," and the new setting reflects that grim reality, with no towns or safe havens left to protect players as they venture through a fallen Sanctuary.

Beyond the striking premise, Blizzard wasted no time diving into gameplay specifics during its "Forging the Next Era" panel. Three classes were confirmed for launch: the returning Demon Hunter and Monk, alongside the all-new Plague Knight, described as "a walking death." Blizzard says the sequel will feature more classes than any previous entry in the series. On the systems side, the studio revealed a return to Diablo 2-style loot, procedurally generated dungeons, and a first look at the game's redesigned UI, signaling a deliberate effort to blend nostalgic elements with fresh design ambitions.
