Final Fantasy 14 Evercold Expansion Brings FF7 Crossover Raid and New Bastion Job

Square Enix used Fan Fest Berlin 2026 on Saturday to deliver a wave of new details about Final Fantasy 14's upcoming Evercold expansion, headlined by the long-anticipated crossover with Final Fantasy 7. The first eight-person raid series, titled "Beyond the Lifestream," will bring Cloud, Sephiroth, and the world of Midgar crashing into the FFXIV universe, marking the first time the two iconic franchises have officially collided in-game. Alongside the FF7 raid, Square Enix also confirmed that a separate Neon Genesis Evangelion crossover raid series is in the works, with that collaboration kicking off in August 2026 ahead of Evercold's full launch.

The Berlin keynote, led by producer and director Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P), also put the spotlight on Evercold's brand-new job: the Bastion. Described as a defense-and-offense-oriented "main" tank, the Bastion wields massive shields in combat and is built to dish out damage while keeping the party healthy. A dedicated trailer for the job debuted at the event, with Collector's Edition details and a longer Evercold expansion trailer also surfacing. Beyond new jobs and raids, Square Enix revealed plans to modernize several of the MMO's older features, including branching quest narratives, character action skins, and other quality-of-life overhauls aimed at bringing the aging systems up to contemporary standards.
