Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Director Warns of 200GB Install Size and 100-Hour Runtime

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the concluding chapter of Square Enix's remake trilogy, is shaping up to be an absolute beast in more ways than one. Game director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that the title will require approximately 200GB of storage space at launch, a figure that places it among the largest game installs ever seen on modern hardware. Hamaguchi acknowledged the burden this places on players, stating that the team felt they needed to "overcome the hardware to a certain extent" to deliver the scope and quality they were targeting for the trilogy's finale. The sheer scale of the install also explains why the game will not receive a traditional full physical release, as the file size would have made a two-disc solution impractical.

Beyond storage concerns, Hamaguchi offered a glimpse into just how massive the game itself is. He estimated that a full playthrough of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation could take around 100 hours to complete, and revealed he has personally completed the game 46 times during development. The title is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with Hamaguchi also detailing plans for post-launch DLC centered on Sephiroth and Vincent Valentine.
