Final Fantasy VII Revelation's Cast Revealed: New Faces, Emotional Farewells, and Critical Role Connections

New York Comic Con 2026 brought a wave of cast news for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, with Square Enix and the game's voice talent taking center stage for a series of reveals and candid interviews. Among the biggest announcements: Critical Role's Travis Willingham is stepping into the iconic role of Sephiroth, taking over from Tyler Hoechlin who had to step down. Willingham described his approach to the villain with quiet menace, saying "there's nothing more dangerous than the villain that doesn't need to shout to be heard." Fellow Critical Role performer Marisha Ray was also announced as the voice of a new, NPC-ified version of Shiva, a casting choice that carries some real-world intrigue given that Ray is the wife of Vincent Valentine's voice actor, adding an unexpected layer of on-screen chemistry to the role.

On the emotional side of the coverage, Kotaku captured the bittersweet mood surrounding the game's final recording sessions. Aerith actress Briana White and Tifa actress Britt Baron both reportedly cried in the recording booth as they wrapped up their work on the project. At a separate NYCC panel, Cloud voice actor Cody Christian teased fans by noting that the best of Cloud and Aerith's dynamic is still yet to come, a comment sure to fuel speculation about where the game's story is headed. The cast also opened up about their favorite co-stars to act against throughout the recording process, offering a warm glimpse into the bonds formed over the course of the trilogy.
