GTA 6 Officially Rated M: Sex Scenes, Weather Overhaul, and More Confirmed

Grand Theft Auto 6 has received its official ESRB rating ahead of its November 2026 release, and the result is exactly what anyone familiar with the franchise would expect: Mature. The rating, confirmed by multiple international ratings boards, carries content descriptors that mirror those of GTA 5 almost exactly, covering blood and gore, intense violence, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, and use of drugs and alcohol. Notably, the new rating explicitly confirms that GTA 6 will feature sex scenes, a detail flagged by IGN based on the international listings. Destructoid summed up the general reaction from long-time fans: no surprises here, just an expectation of even more of the franchise's signature crude ridiculousness.

Beyond the rating news, a Game Informer cover story dropped a wave of fresh details about the game itself. Among the highlights is a significantly overhauled weather system, described as a major step up from anything Rockstar has done before, fitting for a game set in a fictional Florida where extreme weather is practically a character in its own right. The cover story also shed further light on dual protagonists Jason and Lucia, whose designs and backstories have evolved considerably since their debut in the 2023 reveal trailer. Rockstar also used the moment to officially debunk a persistent fan rumor: despite plenty of speculation, GTA 6 will not include a parody of Disney World or Universal Studios-style theme parks, confirming Florida's iconic tourist landmarks won't be getting the GTA satirical treatment this time around.
