Jennifer English Steps Away From Tides of Annihilation Role Due to Health Concerns

Jennifer English, the acclaimed actress best known for her roles in Baldur's Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, will no longer star as the protagonist in Eclipse Glow Games' upcoming fantasy RPG Tides of Annihilation. English had been set to voice and portray Gwendolyn, the game's lead character, but announced her departure citing personal health reasons. In a statement, the actress shared, "Recently, I've found myself needing to slow down," signaling that her wellbeing takes priority over the high-profile role. English also won a BAFTA in 2025, making her one of the most decorated and recognizable voices in modern gaming.

Despite stepping back from the lead role, English will not be entirely absent from the project. The developer confirmed that the role of Gwen has been recast, while English herself transitions into an advisory capacity on the game going forward. The news comes as a surprise to fans who had been excited to see her headline another major RPG following her celebrated performances in recent years. Eclipse Glow Games has not yet announced who will take over the role of Gwendolyn.
