Magic: The Gathering Reveals Three 2027 Sets: Zhalfir, Kamigawa, and Nauctis

Wizards of the Coast used a major stage presentation on July 17, 2026 to pull back the curtain on three brand-new Magic: The Gathering sets scheduled for 2027. The trio covers a wide range of settings and tones: a long-awaited return to the iconic African-inspired plane of Zhalfir, a mechs-versus-monsters spectacle set in the neon-lit cyberpunk world of Kamigawa, and a deep dive into an all-new undersea plane called Nauctis. The announcements signal that Wizards is blending beloved returning locations with fresh worldbuilding as it maps out its next year of releases.

The Kamigawa set, titled Kamigawa: Titanbreach, kicks off when an Omenpath tears open above the city of Towashi, sending a massive chunk of Ikoria crashing through and unleashing chaos on the plane. The people of Kamigawa must then band together to fight back, giving the set a Pacific Rim-style flavor of giant mechs squaring off against enormous monsters. Meanwhile, Nauctis: The Sunken Realm introduces players to Magic's first fully undersea plane, populated by merfolk, seals, homarids, and other aquatic creatures. Rounding out the slate, the Zhalfir set brings players back to Teferi's home continent, exploring its new place in the Multiverse following years of story significance for the beloved planeswalker.
