Sam Barlow's Next Game Is Sci-Fi Horror Precognition, Co-Created With Brandon Cronenberg

Sam Barlow, the creator of Her Story and Immortality, has officially revealed his next project at Half Mermaid Productions. The game is called Precognition, a sci-fi horror title being developed in collaboration with filmmaker Brandon Cronenberg. Described as a video-scouring experience that will "follow in the footsteps of Immortality," the game centers on visions of the future and why those visions are not always a gift. Barlow has teased the story involves "really terrible things that are just around the corner," suggesting a dark, dread-soaked tone that fits neatly alongside Cronenberg's body-horror filmography.

In a fun piece of development trivia, Kotaku reports the concept for Precognition actually originated as an idea for an FMV Metroid game, though the final product has no connection to Nintendo's iconic bounty hunter. The game is currently targeting a 2028 release window, giving the Half Mermaid team plenty of time to craft another intricate, footage-driven mystery in the tradition that Barlow has made his signature.
