TennoCon 2026: Warframe Heads to Tau, Soulframe Goes Dark with Warsongs

Digital Extremes brought the heat to TennoCon 2026, unveiling a slate of major updates for both Warframe and Soulframe. The biggest reveal for Warframe was Warframe: Tau, a full second solar system described as a blend of Blade Runner, The Sopranos, and film noir. The new system has been teased for years, with players previously getting only a brief flashback taste of it, and the reveal trailer confirmed it is a distinctly gruesome and stylish departure from the game's current setting. On top of the new solar system, the expansion will feature voice work from Critical Role's Matt Mercer, a casting that Digital Extremes called a "dream come true." The Banshee Warframe is also in line for a rework as part of the fall 2026 update dubbed Iceblade of Narin, and a quirky in-game tabletop RPG called Fables and Frontiers (a "legally distinct" nod to Dungeons and Dragons) will arrive for the character Amir as part of the Amir's Shockwave update this August.

On the Soulframe side, Digital Extremes opened the doors to Soulframe: Preludes for a new wave of free players during the event, and debuted a lengthy gameplay trailer for the game's next major update, Warsongs. The update adds wolf mounts, a Warsongs origin quest (dubbed the Warsongs Fable), and a new dark progression path tied to the Vadagar faction that the developers themselves called an "edgelord" route, comparing the narrative swing to Spider-Man 3. In a detail that captured fan attention online, the showcase also confirmed players can take on the role of a beaver during the Warsongs Fable, and the developers were quick to reassure worried fans that the beaver in question "will be okay." The demo was described by PCGamesN as "the darkest Soulframe has ever been," with the Warsongs update positioning the pre-alpha as an increasingly intriguing prospect ahead of its eventual full launch.
