Team Ninja has officially announced that Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will release on March 4, 2027, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. Alongside the release date reveal, a playable demo is now available, giving players their first hands-on taste of the soulslike sequel. The studio, known for franchises like Nioh, Ninja Gaiden, and Dead or Alive, is positioning this follow-up as more than just a continuation of the original Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. According to early previews, it represents a culmination of everything Team Ninja has learned across its decades of action game development.

Early impressions from critics who went hands-on with the demo have been notably positive, and perhaps surprisingly so. GameSpot's previewer admitted to going in expecting to dislike it, only to walk away having had a surprisingly great time, even going so far as to say the experience made them rethink their relationship with the soulslike genre entirely.
