Capcom Shrugs Off Physical Media Decline as 90% of Sales Go Digital
Capcom is making it clear that the gaming industry's ongoing shift away from physical media is not keeping the company up at night. In its latest quarterly earnings report, the Resident Evil and Street Fighter publisher revealed that approximately 90 percent of its unit sales are now digital, a figure that has given the company confidence to largely dismiss concerns about an increasingly disc-free future. Capcom stated that the shrinking physical market will not have a "significant impact" on its operations, essentially treating the trend as a non-issue for its bottom line.
