Capcom's Q1 2026 Soars 81% as Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata Deliver

Capcom has posted an outstanding first quarter for fiscal year 2026, with ordinary profit surging 81% year-on-year to $252.5 million. Net sales climbed 54% and operating profit jumped 67%, driven by two marquee releases that exceeded expectations on very different scales. Resident Evil Requiem, the latest entry in Capcom's flagship horror franchise, has now surpassed 8 million units sold, pushing the cumulative Resident Evil series total to a staggering 213 million copies worldwide. Meanwhile, the long-in-development sci-fi action title Pragmata proved doubters wrong by moving 2.5 million copies in just three months on the market, a result that surprised even some industry observers who had tempered their expectations for the new IP.

Beyond the headline new releases, Capcom's deep back catalogue continued to pull significant weight. Resident Evil 2 quietly crossed a major milestone, surpassing Resident Evil 5 to become the best-selling individual game in the franchise's history at 19.75 million copies sold. The results also highlighted a continued and accelerating shift in how players are buying Capcom's games, with the vast majority of 2026 sales coming through digital storefronts rather than physical retail, a trend that is drawing both attention and some unease from portions of the player base concerned about long-term game preservation and access.
